Location and the people: Kaipattoor Kaipattoor is a village in the Vallicode Village Panchayat of the Kozhencherry Taluk Pathanamthitta District. It is geographically located about seven kilometers from Pathanamthitta town towards south, nine kilometers from Adoor towards north East and nine kilometers east of Pandalam. People are predominantly farmers. The importance of education is fully realized by them and therefore every parent is very serious about educating their wards. The new generation is more vigorous about providing the best education possible to their children at any cost. However the picture was not so rosy in the past. There was no English medium school within a radius of ten kilometers and the people were very anxious to have their children educated in an English medium school. Sponsors. The St. Ignatius Orthodox church (now known as St. Ignatius Orthodox Maha Edavaka) Kaipattoor is a major parish in the Thumpamon Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church. The parish was established 150 years ago in 1860 and its present strength is 750 families with over four thousand members. The church at the present site, named after St. Ignatius Noorono, was built in 1890 and was consecrated by Metropolitan Pulikkottil Joseph Mar Dionysius assisted by Parumala Mar Gregorios and Murimattom Mar Ivanios Metropolitans.
The church was later modified to its present condition in 1988. The General body of the church in its meeting in June 1994 took an epoch making decision to start a school with CBSE syllabus at Kaipattoor, in the name of Malankara’s first proclaimed saint St. Gregorios of Parumala. The School St. Gregorios English Medium School has become a reality in 1995. The beginning was very humble with 55 children in LKG and Standard I. People in and around Kaipattoor are very much supportive and the strength of pupils increased year after year. For the effective functioning of the school, the General Body of the church felt that it should be placed under a separate body. It was proposed to register a Charitable Society for the purpose under the auspices of the Church and to transfer the responsibility to it. The Society As desired by its General Body, the Church has registered the St. Gregorios Charitable Society of St. Ignatius Orthodox Church under Register No. P-254/2000 with the District Registrar of Societies in the year 2000 as per the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955. One member from each family of the Church, not less than 18 years of age, can become a member of the Society and they form the constituents of the General body. The Society elects a Governing body to run the school as per its constitution. Ever Since its inception the Society has initiated many developmental activities with the full backing of the church.
In 2003 CBSE has given its approval to start secondary level classes. The first batch of standard ten students sat for the Public Exam in March 2005. From then onwards till 2010 the school had cent percent result in standard ten. In 2010 out of 33 appeared for the exam 23 won distinction and the rest first class. Up gradation to Senior Secondary Level The school has been upgraded to senior secondary level from the academic year 2010 – 2011. Three streams are offered as follows for the students to choose.
The school has four blocks of buildings, named as Administrative, Kindergarten, Academic and Science. The class rooms are of standard size. Fire & Safety arrangements are in place as per Government norms. Proper waste management, adequate toilet facilities and provision of drinking water facility have been ensured and the Health department of the Government of Kerala has certified its adequacy. Well equipped individual Labs for Chemistry, Physics Biology and Computer, and a well stocked Library are special features. Well qualified and devoted Teachers are ensuring the all-round development of the students. It is an ideal Institution any parent will aspire for their wards.
